Learning Aims:

  • Oral Mucositis is an inflammatory mucosal lesion which has developed as a result of chemotherapy or radiation therapy. This webinar describes mucositis, pointing out the limits and the benefits of current mucositis treatment strategies.
  • Behcet’s disease is a chronic inflammatory disease with multisystemic involvement. This webinar describes the various aspects of Behcet’s disease, a better understanding of the underlying pathogenesis and the available therapeutic approaches.
  • Salivary gland disorders include inflammatory, bacterial, viral, and neoplastic etiologies. The presentation can be acute, recurrent, or chronic. This webinar describes the causes of salivary gland dysfunction and the diagnostic sequence that is mainly accomplished by imaging.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand that oral mucositis represents the hidden story of cancer therapy. Currently, several interventions and prevention guidelines are available and their effectiveness is still under consideration.
  • Understand the pathogenesis of Behcet’s disease is unclear, it seems that immunological aberrations play an important role in the development and progression of the disease. Except the options of immunosuppressive therapies, the therapeutic outcome of patients with Behcet’s disease has improved with the advent of biotherapies.
  • Understand that imaging is helpful in the diagnosis and surveillance of patients with Salivary gland dysfunction. Correlation of imaging findings with clinical presentation facilitate the diagnosis of a variety of salivary gland diseases with different etiologies
